This Camaro was initially purchased by Don Duncan, from Nurse Chevrolet in Toronto, Canada.  Don traded his 68 Corvette for this 1970 Z-28.  In 1971, John Todds of TODCO Racing built this Camaro into an SCCA Trans-Am race car.  

 

Dick Brown, prior to the 1971 Trans-Am season, had been trying to obtain $75,000 to race a Bud Moore Mustang as the #2 team car to Parnelli Jones... But came up short by about $25,000.00.  Dick then got a call from John Todds who asked him to drive this Camaro. 

 

This Camaro was raced in the 1971 Trans-Am series as a Todco Racing entry. In 1971, this car had a great looking multi-color paint scheme and ran number 93. Both Dick Brown and Don Duncan have noted that Mark Donohue commented to them in 1971, at the St. Jovite Trans-Am, that it was the most beautiful paint scheme he had ever seen on a race car.

 

In 1972, the car was painted Sunoco Blue and ran under the banner of Sunoco of Canada, Gagnon Spring, and Duncan Chevrolet.  During the 1972 SCCA Trans-Am season, this car had much better success than the year prior.  In the four SCCA Trans-Am events contested, this car’s best finishes were an impressive 5th place finish at the Road America Trans-Am, and a 6th place at Watkins Glen.  Dick Brown also won the Mayor’s Cup Race at the 1972 Molson Grand Prix/Trois Rivieres weekend in this car.
